I also have rack and pinion and did not like the way the car handled. This kit was developed to replace the stamped steel lower control arms for 1964 Galaxies. What the exact cause was, I don't know, but the steering seemed a little stiff. These were somewhere around 800 when new.
So, buy these if you're wanting to try air bags, and have some experience with front suspensions. I bought these when I was putting air bags on my car. I had air ride on the car and didn't like it,so I changed back to coil springs.
If you're going for a Gasser look, these will get you there. Guys with coil springs say they raised their cars higher. No reserve after the opening bid, I just want to get rid of them. But I also have a 4 link in the rear with adjustable coil overs which are adjusted with the ride height a little low.
This happened to my car. The guys on the Galaxie forums did not complain about the steering when they used the factory steering arms, maybe that was the problem with my car.
It was the ride I hated, which is why I got rid of them. I had a large anti sway bar which added to the problem. They were not for me. I'll return calls when I can.
When I had air bags on the car, I did like the way the car sat with the air out of the bags. As shown in the pictures, it comes with the front bolt no washers, re use your old ones, the rear lower control arm bolts are re used. This kit also eliminates the lower control arm front offset eccentric crank arm that causes the Galaxies to wander at highway speeds.
But, when I changed back to coil springs, I cut 2 coils to get the car lower, the car's anti sway bar hit the lower control arm another complaint on the Galaxie forums. I did notice the car was about higher than I wanted.
